Following the Prime Minister’s recommendation, Her Majesty The Queen has awarded Specac with the Queen’s Award for International Trade. Kent-based Specac Ltd. design and manufacture accessories for spectrometres used in science and industry and has been in business since 1971.
Supplying sample-analysis accessories, high-specification equipment using mirrors and crystal materials to direct infrared light, they sell to 70 countries across five continents, including the United States, China, Germany, Singapore and Japan.
Experts in innovation, they work towards a target of developing three new products a year. With 90% of their sales exported, this had made international trade key to their business model since first commercially travelling overseas in 2008. Their international success since this time has been documented and celebrated with this Award for Outstanding Continuous Growth in overseas sales over the last six years.
David Smith, Managing Director of Specac said: “I’m deeply honoured that the business I’ve had the privilege to lead for the last ten years has won such a prestigious award. I believe it represents recognition at the highest level for a good commercial strategy, high quality in everything we design and make and mostly, the hard work over a long period of an amazing team.”
Having placed the Chairman at Specac, Kevin O’Donovan, Praesumo are pleased to have played a part in the continuous growth and development of the organisation. Many congratulations to everyone at Specac, an award greatly deserved.
